Signing up to the Buy Social Corporate Challenge
We are proud and excited to be a partner in the Buy Social Corporate Challenge, which launched on 18 April, at a reception held at 11 Downing Street.
Zurich is one of a number of high profile businesses who have signed up to the challenge, which commits to spending £1bn with social enterprises by 2020. The initiative, set up by Social Enterprise UK and the Cabinet Office, promotes sourcing and buying from British social enterprises. These are businesses that reinvest their profits to address social and environmental issues – from homelessness and unemployment to landfill waste and climate change.
Amy Brettell, Head of Charities & Social Organisations at Zurich, attended the event: “We’re delighted to be part of this pioneering programme and to be working with like-minded organisations to deliver greater social value in our communities,” she said.
“We already work with a number of social enterprises such as WildHearts, whose profits fund microloans in the developing world and entrepreneurial training in UK schools, and Belu water, who donate all their profits to WaterAid. This initiative will inspire us to work harder to procure well-priced, high quality products and help drive social change at the same time.”
