The Climate Change Challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic is not the only global emergency facing public and voluntary sector organisations today.
We are also in the midst of a climate change emergency. From the extensive wildfires in Australia, to devastating flooding in Britain, the manifestations of climate change are evident and are continuing in 2020.
The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2020 ranked climate action failure as the single greatest risk facing the world today. All organisations should now be considering the climate impact of decisions and develop holistic strategies to build resilience.
Our new report – The Climate Change Challenge – outlines strategies and actions that can help organisations to manage and mitigate climate change risks. This includes:
- Setting out three steps organisations should consider when developing a climate resilience adaptation strategy;
- A checklist to help organisations manage a zero-carbon transition, covering areas including procurement, compliance, planning, investments, training, asset management and partnerships;
- Providing sector-specific guidance and resources, including for local authorities, housing providers, education institutions, and charities and voluntary organisations.
